Just five minutes from the National Palace you can explore Sintra’s historical centre by foot, which is a big advantage, especially in the summer when pressure on parking and public transport is high. Further beyond the centre also reachable by foot is the mystical Quinta da Regaleira. A small drive away is the iconic Royal Palace (Palacio de Pena) and the English inspired Monseratte Palace.

There is a small road right from the Quinta’s entrance which takes you directly to the road leading to Colares and the beautiful beaches of Praia Grande and Praia de Adraga. From here you can explore the rugged Atlantic coast and the Sintra Naitonal Park. Praia de Maças can be reached by a small and quaint tram if you don’t have a car. In the other direction are the seaside towns of Cascais and Estoril, which provide a different atmosphere and more restaurants as a change from Sintra.

Portugal’s capital, Lisbon, is just thirty minutes away by car of forty minutes on the train, which leaves from the station just a five minutes' walk from the Quinta. There are several international renowned golf courses nearby, including Penha Longa, Estoril, Beloura and Quinta da Marinha, all within 15 minutes' drive.

The ‘Hunter’s Cottage’ lies within an exclusive Quinta located in the heart of Sintra's historical centre. It is just five minutes’ walk to the National Palace (famous for its large chimneys), and yet it is quiet and peaceful giving the feel of an old country estate.

The Manor House, which you may look around if requested, was built in 1780 by the Count of Póvoa (1744-1833), inspired by the “Petit Trianon” in Versailles. It is set in extensive grounds which guests are free to explore, including a family chapel and beautiful gardens. It also has a large swimming pool paved with dark tiles that keep the temperature of the water very warm. The views from the pool and the gardens are stunning, overlooking the Tagus Estuary and the Atlantic.

The Cottage is in a secluded location of the Quinta, with forest behind it and sun all day long at the front. It has a superb view towards the National Palace and Moorish Castle. It has a very cosy lounge, well equipped kitchen, small dining area, a double and a twin bedroom. There is a lovely little terrace accessible from one of the bedrooms.

The Quinta has three rental properties altogether: The ‘Hunter’s Cottage’ which sleeps five, the Manor Appartment to sleep four, and the ‘Garden Cottage’ which sleeps five. All three have their own privacy in this large estate, and share the swimming pool which is elevated in a fabulous location independent of the houses in a sun trap. The Quinta is an ideal place to experience the charms of romantic Sintra or to just relax in its gardens.

Notes: Daily maid service is included in the price. A locally sourced, in house three course evening meal with wine can also be arranged for €30 per person.
