Description

This charming and traditional country house is located in the heart of the Alentejo region. As part of a large and very beautiful cork and wine estate, the house dates from the 19th Century and has belonged to an Anglo-Portuguese family for over five generations.

Over the years, the house has given a warm welcome to family friends from around the world and this spirit continues today as it welcomes guests. Surrounded by ancient cork forests, vineyards and olive groves, this house is truly exceptional, located in one of Europe’s most unspoiled rural areas, and provides a relaxing atmosphere and authentic old-world charm.

Elegant but informal, the house has long vine-shaded pergolas running along the length of the bedrooms and living areas. Antiques and rustic pieces are scattered throughout, adding to the rich sense of character and history of the house and its surroundings. The whitewashed walls and oversized fireplaces are typical of the region. There are lovely gardens and an outdoor dining area at the rear of the house, as well as a spacious living room, dining room, games room and study inside. The house sleeps 10 with additional cots for children but it’s worth remembering that it is equally comfortable for smaller groups.

Set two minutes from the house, the pool is fed by a natural stream and guests have exclusive use of this during their stay. Warm sunny days are often spent relaxing here enjoying stunning views over vines and citrus groves. Guests are also welcome to walk around the estate, exploring our vineyards and cork forests and there are some lovely spots for picnics.

The rental price includes a daily maid service (except Sundays). Chefs and babysitters are available on demand but must be booked well in advance. Simple home cooked meals on arrival are available, also arranged in advance.
